Appeal to Support AWN
Thursday 24 July 2008
Dear members, friends and donors,
Sunday, January 2008 is to be considered as the worst day in history of AWN when a sudden fire erupted AWN building and caused heavy loss to the property valuing around 10, 5000 US dollar. Luckily no one was seriously injured, except minor injuries; being caught in a sudden fire they very hardly escaped and saved themselves with very limited valuables. The fire had caused heavy damage before the arrival of firefighters.
The fire was caused due to unnoticed oil-heater dropping fuel on the floor which later erupted the whole building further escalated by fast blowing wind. AWN being one of the major women organization is faced with unexpected disruption in it work, as it has lost all its computers, furniture and equipments and besides is obliged to pay for the house repair which is estimated to be around USD 60,000.
We therefore appeal to all AWN members, friends, donors, women right activists and supporters to support AWN at this event of adversity and to overcome the difficult moment in repayment of house repair (USD 60,000) to the landlord and purchase of essential work tools and equipment ( 45,000) to pursue its work for the Afghan Women.
