The Iraqi Student Project
Monday 18 August 2008
On August 13, the first six Iraqi students arrived in the U.S. The Iraqi Student Project is bringing Iraqi students living as refugees in Syria to the United States on student visas. By the end of August, all fifteen participants will have arrived at the colleges and universities that are providing tuition waivers. And these students with whom we have worked all year in Damascus will be meeting the wonderful support groups that ISP has organized in their new communities.
We want to share the beginnings of the ISP with our NYC friends and with people here who work in college and university settings.
We hope many of you can come and talk with us about "one small thing we can do," the Iraqi Student Project. We will also see an excellent short documentary where several of the ISP students are interviewed.
If you are unable to come but want to learn more about the ISP, contact us and take a look at the website too: www.iraqistudentproject.org.
