LaOnf, Iraqi Non-violence Group

Friday 18 February 2011

LaOnf group blesses the Arabic non-violence movements : “revolution of the jasmine” in Tunisia and “white revolution” in Egypt, as well as all the Iraqi demonstrations demanding for policies that meet the people needs, "Bouazizi" - the poor vegetables sellerl – was the flame that fired the popular torrent of anger from one Arabic country to a another, against: tyranny, oppression and. It was only a sing of a start, of an Arabic non-violence revolution. Launched from Tunisia to Egypt, but also in Algeria, Libya, and all the rest of the Middle East. Showing with no doubt that non-violence is an effective tool for change. Proving the mistake of all those undermined this choice.

LaOnf Non-violenc defeated all guns and tanks and corrected some concepts diffused in the Arab countries, including the role of the army. We bring our salutation to the army of Tunisia and of Egypt, as far as they stand at the side of their peoples. Armies of the Middle East should be tool to protect people and not to be an instrumen of repression or war.

Those who ask about this strange mystery, which succeeded in dropping down tyranny, we say that it’s not a mystery, it is non-violence. To those who are seeking to reforms and resist tyranny, whether this tyranny was occupation or dictatorship, big or small, we say chose non-violent alternative.

LaOnf group and since 2005 is struggling to raise awareness of this alternative as an effective resistance and as a tool for reform in Iraq. To make Iraq a civil state meets clearly and definitively with the values of Human Rights and Democracy. We send our call to every person convinced of the need for change and want to say "no" for: each mistake, violation, corruption, bribery, oppression or any gender, religious, sectarian or ethnic discrimination, to use non-violence. It is time for Iraq to say that non-violence is the solution.

Instead of carrying a stone, take a flower and in front of it the instruments of tyranny will fade. Rather than letting anger moves you, look for the ideas and write them and share them with others. Remember in non-violence there is no enemy, but there is injustice, as nonviolent resistant, we don’t fight against particular person, but against the injustice itself. Therefore, our words about the necessary change are addressed to every one: student, peasant, women, soldiers, religious, non-religious, all of us interest that we adopt non-violent mechanisms of change in our civil nation-building to protect all our rights. Let’s prevent the Merchants of death from the confiscation of our lives and prevent the return of dictatorship under any guise, anytime and anywhere.

“We will colour our freedom with the roses
we’ll bring bread to our homes
we’ll defend Iraq with every voice “
