Open letter

To the

President of Russian Federation Dimitri Medvedev

President of the Georgian Republic Michael Saakashvili

We are over 4.000 persons from 18 countries who have been deeply affected by political violence and who have jointly created the International Network for Peace (INP). We are committed to turn our grief and loss into action for peace. Now we raise our voices as we are deeply worried by the devastating use of bombs and other weapons thrown under your command for political purposes against human beings in and around South Ossetia.

On behalf of all the victims of violence throughout the world we express our sympathy and solidarity with all those affected by war in the Caucasus region.

We know that the cost of using violence to resolve conflict does not create lasting peace and leaves a legacy of pain and trauma. We stand together with the vast majority of people on this planet, and we urge you to stop bloodshed and to settle by peaceful means the conflict between your countries.

For peace,

Jo Berry

Chair International Network for Peace
